Writing Tag

All good writing is swimming under water and holding your breath. – F. Scott Fitzgerald

I found this on T.R. Flynn, and thought that it would be fun. I’m pretty busy today, so something fairly easy seemed like it would be nice for today.

So, let’s get started with this writing tag!

1. When did you write your first story or poem?

I think I was about nine when I wrote down my first story. Before that though I know I had been telling a lot of stories.

2. What gender do you prefer to write?

I tend to write my stories from multiple perspective and usually there are both male and female perspectives. And I’ve written almost entire books with only one gender. It really just depends on what the story needs in the character.

3. Have you ever thought about writing screenplays for either tv or movies?

Yeah, I’ve written two short plays. They were a lot more difficult than I expected when I started. I would rather write stories or poetry.

4. Is silence an essential thing that you need when you are writing?

No. I almost always have music playing when I am writing.

5. Who is your favorite author?

This is an awful question to try to answer. How are you supposed to do it when there are so many amazing authors?

I guess if I do have to choose, Jane Austen.

6. What motivates you when you feel down?

Chocolate and tea. Or if you want a more serious answer, the fact that I am not the only one that was in this situation and that they have gotten through this time and so I can too.

7. What do you do when your head stops giving you more ideas or lines?

Depending on how bad it is I will either force myself to continue writing or take a break. If I continue to have trouble coming up with ideas I will take a walk or talk to someone about my story.

8. Are you an organized person?

Very. Everything has a place and everything stays in its place.

9. Who is your favorite character that you have created so far?

I am not sure that it is a good idea for me to answer this question. My characters would not be happy with me playing favorites. And really I am not sure that I would be able to choose just one.

There is Fae who is mysterious and gentle.

There is Theo who is super smart, but still has trouble with actual people and yet is nothing like Sherlock Holmes.

There is Ashur who thinks that he can right all the wrongs in the world on his own.

There is Rose who is super sweet, but also is super sarcastic.

Actually, I think that I like most of my characters, and it would get boring if I was to continue to list off my favorites because by the time that we are done there would be quite a list.

10. What is your goal as an author?

Well, my first and the only one that is actually realistic, is to publish a book. To get the book edited and published. To be able to say that I am done writing on this book.

That brings us to the end of the tag. I hope that you enjoyed it! If you feel like doing it feel free to consider yourself tagged!

If you don’t want to be tagged, but do want to answer a question, who is your favorite author?

  1. Not sure I’ll do this tag but I will answer your question: Isabel Allende. But, as you said, there are so many great authors out there, I don’t think people should get too hung up on favourites. Read as much as you can, from as many different authors as possible.
