Twelve Days of Christmas: Day 5 – Waiting

On the fifth day of Christmas
My true love gave to me
Five gold rings
-Twelve Days of Christmas

It is five days since I started this series. It does not seem like it should be that long somehow. Although, I guess that I should not be so surprised. Since I am on break I am having quite a bit more time than I normally do.

Today I would like to share a poem that I wrote on the Star of Bethlehem.

Waiting

Stars sing
waiting for the One
Whose coming was long foretold
in song and story
in history and truth
Millenia waiting
singing for the future time
when the One should arrive on
Earth
Stars singing
Stars waiting

Then out of
the quiet weaving of
stars’ songs
A new, more brilliant star appears

Shining where never star has shone before
Brighter
More mysterious and distant
A star whose coming harolds
His coming

All draw near
in awestruck wonder

The Lord of Heaven and Earth
born
as a human baby
