INFJ At Hogwarts

There lived four wizards of renown,
Whose names are still well known:
Bold Gryffindor, from wild moor,
Fair Ravenclaw, from glen,
Sweet Hufflepuff, from valley broad,
Shrewd Slytherin, from fen.
They shared a wish, a hope, a dream,
They hatched a daring plan
To educate young sorcerers
Thus Hogwarts School began.
Now each of these four founders
Formed their own house, for each
Did value different virtues.

This was supposed to have come out about two weeks ago, but with NaNoWriMo it just didn’t happen.

So, here it is now

I’m going to share about how an INFJ might act in the different Hogwarts houses. The reason that I have been doing this series is because it can easy to think that each Myers-Briggs personality type all act the same

This is not the case.

And I am hoping that these posts will show just a few of the variations of the different types.

Today we’ll talk about some of the variations of the INFJ. If you just want to read about the INFJ before we get started with all this Hogwarts houses info, here is a post that I wrote just on the INFJ.

Also, if you want to find out your Myers-Briggs personality type, this test is very accurate and free. Then if you want to find out your Hogwarts house, here is one that I usually get the same answer on.

You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true,
And unafraid of toil.
– J.K. Rowlings, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

An INFJ in Hufflepuff would be a friend to anyone who would need a friend at Hogwarts.

They would have a lot of friends in all the Houses and they would try to be a friend to anyone who needs it. They would often end up focusing so much on others that they would never have a chance to think if they are okay.

The INFJ would try to do everything themselves, help everyone, do everything, be at the top of their class. So, they would often end up feeling stressed and as though they are not doing everything that they should.

They might like Quidditch and even if they didn’t they would still make sure to go to the games. If they are on the team they would probably be a Chaser, there’s a chance that they would be made the team captain, but they would rather not have to take the lead.

They would always do their best on their schoolwork, and would always be willing to help someone else with their work.

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
if you’ve a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind.
– J.K. Rowlings, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

An INFJ in Ravenclaw would be a bookworm. They will read just about anything as long as it interesting.

They are friendly with just about everyone, but they only have a few people that they really consider friends that they would be able to really talk to.

They would always ready to help people whether it be with advice about a relationship or how to write an essays for potions.

It seems unlikely that they would care much about Quidditch. For them I think that they would find books much, much more interesting.

For the INFJ schoolwork is fascinating, at least, most of the time. There are parts of it that they are not so fond of, but they do love to learn.

Or perhaps in Slytherin,
You’ll make your real friends,
These cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends.
– J.K. Rowlings, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

This INFJ is charming and persuasive.

They have few real friends, but the ones that they do have they could tell anything to. They are slow to warm up to people so it may take them several years to get to that point.

Once they do decide that someone is trustworthy, they are very loyal to that person. However, if that person proves to be untrustworthy for any reason after that the INFJ will completely block them from their lives.

They are probably not on the Quidditch team. They are a bit of a loner and they like it that way. They like to be able to play things their own way by their own rules.

The INFJ is very studious and enjoys learning. They are probably near the top in most of their classes. They get things done on time and often early.

You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry,
Set Gryffindors apart
– J.K. Rowlings, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

The INFJ in Gryffindor is kind, quiet, and studious, someone that no one would expect to be in this House, but they have a quiet courage.

They are friendly with everyone. They are easy to trust and lots of people end up coming to them for help with their problems. The INFJ may not know exactly how to help, but they are always willing to listen and do what they can.

There are few people that the INFJ really trusts enough to tell anything to, but those few they would do almost anything for. These few would each be different, unique, probably from the different Houses.

I don’t feel like Quidditch is really their thing. They do like the idea of adventure and excitement, but they are not ones to go out of their way to find it. However, if someone that they care about needs help and the only way to do that would be a quest they would do it.

They enjoy learning and they like the routine that the classes give them. They like to learn new things and tend to prefer the theoretical to the hands-on.

I hope that this post has helped you to think about INFJs in a slightly different way and also helped you to realize how different people with the same personality type can be.

And the variations that I have shared with you today are just four of them.

Think about how each and every person even the ones that has the same Myers-Briggs personality type are each so different.

If you have any ideas about how an INFJ might act in the different Hogwarts houses I would love to hear about it in the comments!

  1. I am an INFJ and a Gryffindor( how Gryffindor is an unexpected choice for an INFJ? Remus Lupin is actually an INFJ).

By the way I relate 100% to both descriptions of INFJ Slytherin and Gryffindor, very accurate description, well done!
