INTP At Hogwarts

There lived four wizards of renown,
Whose names are still well known:
Bold Gryffindor, from wild moor,
Fair Ravenclaw, from glen,
Sweet Hufflepuff, from valley broad,
Shrewd Slytherin, from fen.
They shared a wish, a hope, a dream,
They hatched a daring plan
To educate young sorcerers
Thus Hogwarts School began.
Now each of these four founders
Formed their own house, for each
Did value different virtues.

Humans always seem to want to know more about themselves and why they act the way that they do. I am a human and I know that I always want to know more about why I act the way that I do. That is why I got into Myers-Briggs personality type theory.

That is the reason that I am writing all of these blog posts on personality because I find that writing about as well as reading and applying something to live really helps me to understand personality.

I have learned so much more about personality since I started this blog. I thought that I knew it pretty well before I started to write about it, but since starting this blog I have learned so much more.

Today I would like to talk more about INTPs. They are amazing, intellectual, and love figuring things out, so this should be fun to write. This post is going to be about how an INTP would act at Hogwarts, if you want to become a bit more familiar with INTPs before you read this post, I wrote this post just on INTPs a little while ago.

Also, if you want to find out your Myers-Briggs personality type, this test is very accurate and free. Then if you want to find out your Hogwarts house, here is one that I usually get the same answer on.

Alright, now let’s look at how the INTP might act in the different Hogwarts Houses!

You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true,
And unafraid of toil.

It really is not easy for me to imagine an INTP as a Hufflepuff. Usually when I think of INTPs, I think of Sherlock Holmes who would definitely not a Hufflepuff. Of course, Sherlock Holmes is not the only INTP, but he tends to be the first one that I think of. And, of course, different INTPs act differently, so it is quite possible there are some INTPs in Hufflepuff.

INTPs are known for being intellectual, curious, and always wanting to learn new things, so none of that would change as a Hufflepuff, obviously.

They would be very logical. They would be the ones that others would come to if they wanted a logical proof explained and did not mind listening to a long winded and possibly being even more confused.

In Hufflepuff the INTP would be nice, although they might have trouble when people become overly emotional. They have few close friends, although they are probably on decent terms with most of the people in the school.

They are good with their schoolwork, but they may not really enjoy some of it and get bored easily. However, they would enjoy learning new things.

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
if you’ve a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind.

I would say that this is probably the most likely house for an INTP to be in. They are logical, creative, and love to learn. Learning and exploring new things is what Ravenclaws and INTPs like to do.

INTPs in Ravenclaws enjoy having spirited discussions with the other Ravenclaws. They are always learning new things and exploring new concepts.

They have a few close friends. They also have some enemies, mainly because they speak their minds and tend to not to quite understand emotional sensitivity.

Sometimes it seems as though they walk around in something like a dream, but that is only because they are so busy coming up with new theories and ideas.

They like learning, but they don’t necessarily care for their schoolwork which they sometimes find dull and too easy.

Or perhaps in Slytherin,
You’ll make your real friends,
These cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends.
– J.K. Rowlings, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

In Slytherin the INTP would be interested in learning and exploring new ideas.

They would not have many friends, but the very few that they had would be very good friends. They also have quite a few enemies from their thoughtlessness and other enemies from people just not liking what they had to say.

They would be more loners. Interested in their own projects. They would always be working on something that they think will be the next big discovery, but they rarely finish them.

The INTP likes learning, but I feel like schoolwork would be low priority for them.

Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry,
Set Gryffindors apart
– J.K. Rowlings, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

Despite the fact that INTPs are Perceivers, they are not ones to be reckless and throw themselves into things.

In Gryffindor INTPs would be curious, logical, and imaginative.

They would love learning and exploring new things, especially things that they are not supposed to. That might get them into trouble sometimes, but they would not let that bother them. There are times when rules are meant to be broken.

They have a few close friends. They also have some enemies because they don’t feel like obeying convention is very important.

They might consider being on the Quidditch team, and depending on their side projects, they might actually try out. If they did end up doing Quidditch they would probably be a Seeker.

Despite the fact that INTPs love to learn, their schoolwork would sometimes suffer from neglect. Probably because the INTP does not find it interesting. Though they may have surprisingly extensive knowledge of things that interest them.

We have come to the end of this post. Sorry, that was a really obvious thing to say…

Anyways, I hope that this post has helped you to understand INTPs better (I know it has helped me) and also how they might act at Hogwarts.

If you have any more ideas how an INTP might at Hogwarts in the comments!
