I wanted to live the life, a different life. I didn’t want to go to the same place every day and see the same people and do the same job. I wanted interesting challenges.

This personality type, the ISTP, is often the hero in action adventure and spy movies and books. They like action and excitement.
Before we start talking about the personality type as a whole, I would like to take a couple of minutes and talk about the letters that make up this personality type as a whole. The first letter is I which stands for Introvert and means that that this personality needs time alone to recharge after being with people. Then comes S and this stands for Sensing which means that they tend to look at the details and physical things rather than the big picture and the abstract. T stands for Thinking and means that they would rather work through something logically than emotionally. Lastly, P which stands for Perciever meaning that they would rather just jump into things and not plan ahead than plan ahead.
Now that we understand the letters that are in this personality type a bit better, let’s look at how these letters work together to make a unique personality type.
The ISTP is very logical and rational. They tend to be practical and good at solving tangible problems.
ISTPs will only follow the rules if they feel that there is a reason for it. To an outside observer it may seem that they randomly decide which rules to follow and which to ignore, but this is not true, they are somehow logical about which ones they respect and which ones they ignore.
They tend to be very focused on the real world. ISTPs often enjoy working with their hands and fixing things.
They tend to be realists. This is probably because the ISTP focuses so much on the real world and what is going on around them.
ISTPs are often spontaneous and adventurous. They like thrills. They can be daredevils.
They often get excited about projects, but then the ISTP gets distracted by another project and never gets around to finishing the first.
ISTPs believe that people should be treated fairly.
They are very loyal to those that they care about.
Let’s take a few moments to look at the dark side of this personality type. I find that if you understand a personality type at its darkest then you are more likely to understand it the rest of the time.
The dark ISTP will ignore their moral compass and do whatever makes them feel good. They will completely ignore other peoples feelings and go out of their way to have adventure.
I would like to share a few people and characters who have this personality type. I find that looking at the different ways that people with the same personality type behave helps to understand how even within a single personality type there are still so many different ways a personality type may behave.
